I am a clinical psychologist specializing in work with tweens, teens, young adults, and their families. While I am trained in CBT, DBT, cognitive and psychodynamic therapies, I believe in an eclectic perspective. I approach each client as a unique individual. As such I am not anchored to any one treatment approach or protocol. Basically I believe in doing what works. My flexible approach to treatment focuses on the goal of helping the client to help him or herself. In order to achieve this outcome I envision myself as a teacher of skills. I help my clients hone existing skills and develop new ones. I truly believe that when individuals feel competent and empowered, anything is possible.
In addition to my work as a clinician I am also the co-author of the book Teenage as a Second Language (Adams Media 2010) and the creator of www.itsatweenslife.com.
I am a featured blogger on tweens for Psychology Today (http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/lets-talk-tween).
I am a seasoned presenter. In this role I have had the honor of speaking at conferences and college campuses and many other venues across the nation on field related topics. I am also regularly featured in both national and international media as an expert in my field.
I am a published researcher and writer, and I am an adjunct professor of psychology at Pace University.
